Perpetual Series
The "Perpetual" series reflects my deep inspiration drawn from the chaos of nature versus the moments of stillness. I am fascinated by the daily "dances" of the natural world and the cyclical rhythms throughout the year. A question that captivated me earlier this year was the extent of agency different life forms possess in their growth—specifically, whether trees intentionally position their leaves to allow sunlight to filter through.
In "Terra," I focus on how branches guide the viewer's eye toward the sun causing unique shapes of shadow created by clusters of leaves. I envision ethereal beings delicately holding back the leaves to let light shine through. Similarly, "Amor" reflects the dance of courtship and new love, with dancers captured in the fluid gestures of Lyra dance, which is characterized by its graceful movements from a hoop. Each dancer connects to the next, creating a flow reminiscent of nature’s cycles and the interconnectedness of life—a beautiful dance where each experience prepares us for the next.
Currents and “Riptide” are explorations of the unseen power and chaotic beauty of water, particularly the dynamic forces of riptides and opposing currents. Water, in its constant movement, speaks to me of tension—a constant battle of attraction and resistance. The riptide, with its sudden and violent pull, embodies a force of nature that is both captivating and dangerous.
The dramatic poses are meant to evoke the unpredictable rhythm of the sea. The swirling lines and deep contrasts represent the unseen currents, tugging at the surface in chaotic yet mesmerizing patterns. There is both beauty and menace in this fluidity, a delicate balance between calm and storm.
